How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session
The week before your session can bring up a lot of feelings — excitement, nerves, last-minute self-doubt. Here's a practical guide to making sure you arrive feeling as prepared and as calm as possible.
Sort your outfits at least a week before
Don't leave this to the morning of. Try everything on, walk around in it, check nothing itches or gapes. If you're wearing heels, practise in them. Knowing your outfits are sorted removes a significant source of pre-session anxiety.
Book hair and makeup if you want it
You don't need professional hair and makeup for a boudoir session — many of our most beautiful images are shot with natural, minimal makeup. But if it helps you feel more confident and ready, book it. Do your research and book someone who specialises in photography makeup (heavier coverage than everyday, to avoid washing out under lights).
In the days before
- Stay hydrated — your skin will thank you
- Get enough sleep, especially the night before
- Avoid any spray tans or new skincare products that could cause reactions
- Don't wear tight clothing that will leave marks on your skin before the shoot
On the day
Eat a proper meal before you arrive. Don't come to us hungry — it affects your energy and your mood. Wear loose, comfortable clothing so you don't have any waistband marks. Arrive a few minutes early so you have time to settle in before we get started.
The most important thing
Come with a willingness to be surprised. The clients who get the most from their sessions are the ones who let go of what they think they look like and trust the process. We've got you.
